In July, 2014, Bharathakala Natya Academy was honored with an invitation from the Chinese Government to perform at an International Dance Festival in China. Representing the academy were Shreya Viswanathan, Harini Indrakrishnan, Ishwarya Venkatachalam, Nantheshan Sudarshan, and Smt. Subathra Sudarshan, who showcased the artistry of Bharatanatyam over the three-day festival.

The performances were attended by more than 4,500 audience members and received overwhelming acclaim. The enthusiastic response to the Bharatanatyam performances contributed to a significant increase in ticket sales for the festival's second and third days. In addition to the festival, Bharathakala Natya Academy was invited as a special guest to the International Economic Forum, where distinguished leaders, including the former Prime Minister of Australia, the Prime Minister of Malta, and other global dignitaries, addressed the conference. The academy's participation was widely recognized through extensive coverage in local and national Chinese newspapers and featured interviews on Chinese television networks, highlighting Bharatanatyam on an international stage.
