In June, 2018, Bharathakala Natya Academy and Third Eye Dancers proudly presented their original dance drama, Once Upon A Time: Beauty and the Beast, at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall in Colombo, Sri Lanka. This international production brought together more than 32 dancers who dedicated months of preparation to use the art of Bharatanatyam to make a meaningful impact. The performance served as a fundraiser supporting children living with paralysis from the waist down, demonstrating how dance can inspire compassion and create positive change beyond the stage.
The production reflected the ongoing mission of Bharathakala Natya Academy and Third Eye Dancers: to raise awareness of social issues affecting children, support nonprofit organizations through the performing arts, and promote the rich tradition of Bharatanatyam on a global stage. Through opportunities like this, the academy continues to empower its students to use their talent and passion to serve communities around the world while preserving and sharing India's classical dance heritage.
